This past week we volunteered at our second project and first tree planting! We teamed up with the Chicago Region Trees Initiative (CRTI), through the Morton Arboretum to plant trees at the J. Sterling Morton East High School!
This past Wednesday afternoon volunteers from the PRIDE Stores and CRTI planted shade trees to create a lasting impact at Morton East. Schools all around the nation are continuing to see the amazing impact trees can have on a learning community, and Purpose is extremely happy that we got to bring those efforts to Morton East!
“We thank the PRIDE team’s Purpose program for its support of our tree planting at J. Sterling Morton High School East,” said Emily Okallau, Community Trees Project Coordinator at The Morton Arboretum. “Studies show that trees on school grounds help students achieve better academic results, and we are happy to participate in a project that will provide those and other benefits for years to come.”
The PRIDE team showed up ready to work and plant trees! The PRIDE volunteers joined J. Sterling Morton East High School students to plant trees around their campus. This was such a fun project and we got to see the changes we made around the campus as well as the excitement of the students. Thank you to all our wonderful volunteers! We are already looking forward to our next project, Pump Here. Plant Trees.
